IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FAMILIES RECEIVING RIW AND CHILD SUPPORT
Legislation has been amended if you receive Rhode Island Works (RIW) benefits and there is a court order of child support:
If you have one child:
- If the monthly child support payment made is more than $100, you will receive the first $100.
- If the monthly child support payment made is $100 or less, you will receive the full amount of payment.
If you have two or more children:
- If the monthly child support payment made is more than $200, you will receive the first $200.
- If the monthly child support payment made is $200 or less, you will receive the full amount of payment.
If a custodial parent becomes ineligible for RIW benefits, or is no longer receiving RI Works benefits, the custodial parent will receive the entire monthly child support amount due to them that the non-custodial parent has paid.
